Invention Camp and Nonn's Bday

Riley celebrated his last day of Invention Camp by creating a cool balloon-launching hat for Nonn's bday. (=

"Lovely Robins" composed by Riley Zane WIlliam Mathiasen

Here is Riley's first big composition, we'll post a video of it later too.

Art by Cabot

Riley was teaching Cabot how to draw notes and music last night, here is a scan of what they did together. Cabot drew the lines for the staff, and he was getting pretty good at notes too-- see the big sideways note.

Then Cabot drew a picture of Cabot - he drew his head, then hair, then a nose, then boogeys in his nose, then holes in his nose, then a mouth, then a tummy, and last PJs (the 2 stick legs at the bottom). I am actually VERY IMPRESSED with the amount of detail he put into his drawing - I think he is going to be an amazing artist!! Good Job, Cabot!! (=

Random Acts of Adorable-ness

And the sweetest thing is that in this first photo Cabot had been crying because he wanted to wear PJs just like BoBo, but we didn't have any of Cabot's flannel PJs clean..... So, Riley found an old pair of his that he thought might fit Cabot and got him all dressed in them. They were way too big, but it certainly made Cabot happy. BoBo is such a good big brother!

Cabot is working on his laptop just like Mommy and Daddy.

BoBo is helping with the playhouse.

Cutie Pie Cabot

You all have heard how my little Cabot loves to party in his crib for hours before he sleeps - and often times is reenacting scenes from "Madagascar" and singing "I like to party, party, I like to move it, move it." Well, when he decides he is done playing he just conks out in whatever jumble of toys he has made. Sometimes he is even sleeping on cars!! Here is a photo of him last week when I checked on him. And No, I didn't try to move the toys or cover him up - that just wakes him up and ticks him off! (=

My Little Musician is a Composer!!

Riley is doing a Music Composing camp (just a couple of classes really, not an actual camp) and he has already composed an awesome piece of music!! He has always liked to write little songs, but now he is learning how to write longer pieces with a theme and variations. I am VERY impressed with his first song. It rocks! As soon as I get it taped I'll post it for you all to see. In the meantime, here is a photo of him writing his song out after he completed composing it.

Soccer Fun

Riley has been enjoying his intro to soccer this summer, and he is doing really well too. He even made a goal in his first game!! (= We brought Cabot along this past weekend to watch and he wanted to do everything just like BoBo - he even tried to join BoBo on the field when the kids were doing soccer drills - oops!

Check out the photos below - you'll see one of Riley before he made a goal (he is number 8) along with some other cute ones. My favorite photo is the one where Riley is looking at the monkey pile of kids who are all going to jump on the ball with the "Really, people??" expression. (=

Can you tell by looking at this last photo that Cabot wants to be just like his big brother?? Right down to the placement of his sippy cup like BoBo's water bottle.

Talent Show Photos

Here are some photos from the evening talent show on June 2nd. Riley also played in the afternoon talent show for all of the students at Ridgeview. He did an amazing job at both of them - and he was not even shy at all!! He was super excited to find out that they got trophies at the end of the evening talent show too! (=

Riley's Recital

Here is a video of Riley's recital on June 6th. He did a great job!

Feeding the Giraffes

The boys were super excited to feed the giraffes at the zoo - until we got right up there and Cabot noticed their heads were almost as big as him. He was a little nervous at the time, but when he tells the story he says the giraffe licked his hands and fingers and it was funny. So, in hindsight, he wasn't nervous at all. (= And Riley is such a big boy he fed the giraffe all by himself! Both boys had a lot of fun checking out the animals - Cabot helped Riley make a list of all the animals they wanted to see in the car on the way to the zoo, and Riley checked them off of the list as they saw them. Very cute! And of course, Cabot thought the giraffes were named Melman and the Zebras were named Marty. You all know his fascination with the "Madagascar" movies. He was very sad there was not a Gloria (Hippo) or an Alex (Lion) at the zoo. But he quickly got over that and enjoyed the day with his big brother.

Last Day of Kindergarten...

It was BoBo's last day of Kindergarten today and the poor little guy isn't even that excited about summer vacation. He is sad that he won't get to see Mrs. Lambert ever again (she is moving to Iowa now). But, he was excited because they all got to take ziploc bags of supplies home with them. All the glue sticks, crayons, markers, pencils, etc. that they have in class were distributed for kids to take home. Riley was super excited to get a bunch of pencils and writing paper. And, they all got hugs from Mrs. Lambert when they left today so he thought that was nice.

Riley also brought home an amazingly good report card - WAY TO GO, BOBO!! We are proud of you!! (=
