Cabot Update

Here’s a quick update on what the Babbitty Boo has been up to.

Those of you who have young kids and watch the “Little Einsteins” will totally understand this story… Yesterday Cabot was watching “Little Einsteins” and when Big Jet appeared on the screen he pointed and said, “Uh-Oh, Big Jet. Uh-Oh, Big Jet.” Whenever Big Jet would reappear he would get concerned and repeat, “Uh-Oh, Big Jet.” And then he’d launch into a very serious monologue that ended with “Rock” for Rocket. So, clearly, this means that my 20-month old is a child genius because he already understands the drama and plot lines of good versus evil as it appears in “Little Einsteins.” (=

Cabot has actually been talking up a storm lately, and a lot of what he says we can understand. He still launches into the occasional long-winded, very-serious monologue that we can understand no part of but find immensely entertaining though. Some of his new words are: Stuck (especially to toys stuck behind his crib or when he gets his foot stuck in his crib) Cake, Num-Num, Car, Go Car, OutSIDE!! (no explanation needed), Riley (it’s very cute how he says it, I’ll have to get it taped), Stick (he loves stickers, especially when he sticks them to his cheeks, he’ll spend quite a long time sticking, removing and re-sticking stickers), Guitar, Mi-Key (Mickey Mouse), Rock (this can mean actual rocks which he loves to carry around and throw, rocking in the rocking chair, or Rocket on Little Einsteins), BoBoMaMa (what he says when he is sad because John is putting him to bed and he wants BoBo and mom), Mom Mom, Buckle (in high chair and car seat), Shoe, Boot and many others I can’t remember right now.

Cabot got his very first haircut on May 10, 2008. He didn’t like the scissors much and kept trying to pull away from them, but he did like the trimmer so Nenny had to set it to really long and do it that way. His hair is a lot shorter but still curly and cute. (=

Cabot loves spending time coloring and doing stickers with Riley. And he is very serious about his stickers. I have also noticed that he likes to hide his crayons behind him in his booster seat, and not just any crayons – the green and brown crayons, always the green and brown crayons… Goofy Kid!

Cabot also likes to spend an hour or so playing in his crib before he goes to sleep at night, just talking away and having a good old time. Very frequently he also wakes up around midnight and has an hour-two hour party in his crib. You would seriously think he has someone in there talking to and playing with him. But, we never go in there, and he never cries – he just goes back to sleep once the party dies down. (=

Mostly Cabot just keeps getting cuter and cuter, and more and more monkeylike. He face planted off the couch yesterday and when I went to pick him up and see if he was OK he looked at me like I was crazy for thinking he might be hurt and went right back to climbing on things. Gotta love him! (=

Here are some cute photos to help you visualize some of the stories above. Notice the sticker on his head in the one - Riley was calling him Seahorse Head. (=
