As I have mentioned in the past, Riley is quite the little thinker and he likes to make inventions. The other day he decided he wanted to make a Mashed Potato Machine. Basically the machine will wash all of the tons of potatoes, then it will put them on a conveyer belt. The conveyer belt will run very slowly through a hot, hot oven to cook the potatoes. Then the potatoes will go into the area where they get chopped up, them mashed and then put into containers to store. He drew out a sketch of how it would work and then wanted to get to building. Since we don’t have room for the whole Mashed Potato Machine in our house, and because we have never made one before, I explained the concept of prototypes to Riley. So, Riley went to work building his miniature prototype, and as you will do with any good prototype he figured out some things and made some adjustments to his plan as he built. Such a smart guy! Here are some photos of his sketch and of him working on his prototype.
